kristarella.blog in 2008

31 December 2008 by kristarella

Grid masking: video tutorial

29 June 2008 by kristarella

Check it out! My first video tutorial. In this tutorial I create the following image while demonstrating rounded rectangles and tiled clones in Inkscape, as well as text, masks, pasting into masks, and some shortcuts in GIMP. In this post I’ll be going through making my April calendar wallpaper; as both a demonstration of some tools in the GIMP and a translation of a great photoshop tutorial.

15 April 2008 by kristarella

As I mentioned on the weekend, I saw a photoshop tutorial for halftone text. I thought it was kind of cool… retro. So I decided to try it out in GIMP (v2.4). It’s really simple!

Top GIMP tutorial sites

24 March 2008 by kristarella

After some discussion at Creative Curio I was starting to think that building a site similar to PSDTuts for GIMP tutorials would be cool. I haven’t seen much in the way of GIMP tutorial sites that I really like; except for Meet the GIMP, but video tutorials are different in my mind. Before I go […]

Meet the GIMP demonstrates Ufraw

23 March 2008 by kristarella

I previously posted about Ufraw and its user guide, which I found to be quite unfriendly on the website. I created an easier-on-the-eyes pdf version. Unfortunately it didn’t help, I still didn’t understand at all how this tool was supposed to work. I found it rather discouraging. After shooting in RAW for one day in […]

Nail refresh with a 🌈 of subtle ombres, and yummy home made dinner of pepper steak (recipe in high protein cookbook by @helena__sly) and protein cheesecake with berries. With my sense of smell missing there are a lot of things I can't taste, but I could taste most of this 👌🏻#smallwins #sistaco
I have completely lost my sense of smell. Hopefull I have completely lost my sense of smell. Hopefully only temporarily! It is quite surreal knowing there is something strong smelling and not detecting it at all. Last night I burned these almonds and couldn't smell a thing, so I went and smelled the gin and whisky bottles... Nothing! 🦠👃

Some of today's feels... Keeping it real. My mantr Some of today's feels... Keeping it real. My mantra this year is, "Breathe. Be patient. Be kind." For the most part it is working pretty well, but I cracked it (in a similar fashion to Mark in the pic) about half an hour ago. It's okay, cry is done, and we're getting on with dinner and bedtime.
