The Blog

kristarella.blog started as a personal blog called This and That. It’s still a personal blog, but with less random reports and whinging and more focus on my interests. They include (in approximate order of writing frequency) WordPress, photography, graphics, web design, Christianity, blogging, computers, science, television, movies, music, games.

The blog has been active since December 2005. I find writing about what I read, think and do therapeutic. I also hope to improve my grammar and writing skills through blogging and reading excellent blogs. It was through this blog that I became familiar with XHTML and CSS, PHP, and JavaScript.

In February 2008 This and that changed name to kristarella.blog. I felt kristarella was the name I’d been building for the last three years, where as This and that was just another example of my stellar creativity when it comes to naming things (if we’re not careful my first child will be called Baby!).

The Photoblog

I started the photoblog, originally called The Naked Eye, when I began taking photos with my husband’s Canon IXUS 50. It was a great little camera. Good for point and shoot with a few fun options. I started to crave a bit more from my photography so I bought a Nikon D50.

Eventually I progressed to a Nikon D300s, then Nikon Df. After a terrible experience with Nikon servicing I moved to the Fujifilm X-T3.

I mostly take photos now when I travel.

First mothers day with my little man, and also his First mothers day with my little man, and also his first time in a tree and on a trampoline. He loved it.

Yesterday we had a family gathering to visit for t Yesterday we had a family gathering to visit for the first time where Gran's ashes are interred, next to Grandpa's. Afterwards we had a long lunch, at which Mark was a champ. I'm so grateful to have all these people who love me and love Mark. And super thankful to have such a social and easy going baby.

Finally got a chance to pay these pretties some at Finally got a chance to pay these pretties some attention! Stabilised wood and resin pairings from @pensbycasey_ . The photo doesn't do them justice; the red burl is gorgeous and the blue and green colourshift resin is amazing. They don't have their perfect ink matches yet, but that's okay, I'll use up what is in them and try a different combo next time.#fountainpen #fountainpens #handmadeinaustralia
Rey and BB-8 on Tatooine. This is a reuse of this Rey and BB-8 on Tatooine. This is a reuse of this habitat, but I added another sun and a little more terrain. Fitting scene, as the sun has already set on my Star Wars day. I'd love to do a more gradual sunset, but I don't quite have the yellow and orange plates right now.#maythefourthbewithyou #maythe4thbewithyou #starwars #starwarsday #lego #legostarwars #afol #legomaydare @giothebrickjedi_andfam @nicole_s_brick_build_world

One of my memories (both actual memory and photo memory) is Grandpa dressing up as Santa. I don't know if he liked sci-fi, but I'd like to think he would have enjoyed dressing up with us on occasion 🤍#maythefourthbewithyou #maythe4thbewithyou #maytheforcebewithyou #starwars #starwarsday #yoda #babyyoda #marksymonds #crochet
