I’ve come across so many cool things lately that I wanted to share them all at once!
Uh!Log is one of the photoblogs that I subscribe to. I like Karin’s work because she like’s to experiment and try new styles, and she usually does it well. She’s been posting a lot of macro shots lately and I just luuurved this one titled Bubble Gum.
A couple of friends at uni are heavily involved (read “pretty much run”“actually do run because they just got voted President and Vice”) in ASSSoc, the Advanced Science Student Society. ASSSoc isn’t as active as some societies are, it’s only a couple of years old and with the previous executive committee moving on and people falling through the cracks not a lot has been happening. I attended the AGM on August 13 (8am! Although I missed the train so it was 8:30 for me.) and volunteered (and was voted in) to be the tech person. I can’t remember what my actual title was so I’m just calling myself “Techie”.
Anywho, as a result of all that, I spent some of yesterday redesigning the ASSSoc website. The previous website hadn’t been updated in a year and it was very plain and a bit hard to read (small grey writing on a white background). I don’t really have time to create a whole website, but I found a great site with free html/css templates – Template World. They also have many more templates available for download if you register for $49.95. Given the quality of the free ones, it seems well worth the price. I used the ‘green web’ template for the ASSSoc website and customised it for our purposes.
The green web template had a login section, which we don’t need and I didn’t know what to put there instead. So just for now I’ve put a cartoon there. While looking for science cartoons I found some cute ones about elements and a few others.
Think Geek is a totally awesome, ubergeeky shop and they just brought out this t-shirt. I want it! 😛
Through discussions on I discovered this great printing site, Moo. Their stuff looks so cute and sounds like good quality and users have come up with really creative ways to use their products. I would like to make my own version of Set on the mini-cards. I think they’re very reasonably priced for what they are too. The mini-cards are about half the size of a business card (length-ways) and they’re US$19.99 for 100, and you can have a different image on each card. Pretty sweet.
Do you need some patterns, but you’re stuck for inspiration. Check out print & pattern, I’m sure you’ll find inspiration there.
You’ll be glad to know I’m at the end of my links list. Enjoy 🙂

Well done! You do have a talent for ‘sussing out’ interesting programs and sites. The new ASSSoc website is a huge step up! Keep up the good work.
