Toscani’s is my former favourite restaurant. Yes, that’s right, former.
Tonight, despite my persistent cough and my blocked ears I went off to church and had quite a nice time. I wasn’t able to sing, or not brave enough to, because I couldn’t hear myself and could easily have been out of tune, but the music was good to listen to. It was nice to hear everyone else singing. Afterwards I spoke to some people and was in a mood to chat, which (lately) is unusual; I’ve become a bit unsociable (if that’s a word – even if it’s not, that’s what I’ve been). However, I also had a strong desire to go to Toscani’s for dinner and have their house named chicken dish, Chicken Toscani’s. It’s delicious: small pieces of roast potato, vegetables, small pieces of pancetta and chicken fillets in a creamy mustard sauce. At least it used to be! Tonight it was very disappointing, it was more like a random assortment of vegetables, some fried to a crisp, no pancetta, in an oily mustard sauce. There had to be three times as much oil as cream. It made me wish I had stayed at church to chat rather than try to get to the restaurant before the kitchen closed.
