In the lab we have our coats hanging behind the door. I didn’t think twice about it until today. I had hung mine on the back of a chair, then I came in and it was behind the door – the chair had moved too so I guess it was fair enough that someone wanted to use the chair without my coat on it.
A couple of days ago I put my coat on and noticed a yucky dirty mark on the inside of the sleeve. I didn’t remember making it, but I had them rolled up at some point so I figured it must have been me. Just now I found a blue glove in one of the pockets and realised that somebody else used my coat, dirtied the sleeve and left a glove in the pocket (I’ve never used the blue gloves).
Now I’m fairly annoyed and a bit grossed out. I’m annoyed because people should not use other people’s lab coats. Suppose they do for some reason, surely they should leave it the way they found it, as would be polite with anything else. I’m grossed out because I have no idea if that glove was used or what that dirty mark on the inside of my coat is.
Rude!
