In Proteins this week I wound up with 44g of protein instead of 5. The good news is: I found where I went wrong in the calculations, I was an order of magnitude (10x) out on one thing. The bad news is: I suck! After bagging out a company for not being able to do maths (listen to this phone conversation on YouTube), it turns out that I can’t either. I suppose the difference between me and them is that I can understand when someone explains the mistake to me… and I’m not making money from my mistakes.
Having linked to YouTube, I’m reminded of a different subject. People at uni complain about Macs all the time. There’s a great divide between those who use PCs and those who use Macs. Much of the problem comes from lecturers creating presentations on Macs (especially my Science lecturers, a lot of scientists seem to be Mac people) and trying to present them using the PCs in the lecture theatres. They insert TIFF picture files, which the PCs don’t have the decompression plugin for, they use quicktime movies that don’t run and then everyone thinks that Macs are crap. I suspect that it’s a Microsoft compatibility problem and I think they should all watch:
Mac/PC ads from the US
Adverts from the UK
I also love this spoof ad for Linux.

People will always hate the other brand. Ford/Chevy, PC/Mac. etc. My wife MUST operate this way.

I agree…to a degree…hehe, rhyme…
I like Holden…but…a couple of Fords would take the cake, so…yeah…and…
Microsoft has crappy compatability, even with its own stuff…let alone with another operating system. Mac Good…PC not so good…I like the new Mac Ads that’ve just been released…funny stuff. The only thing I like about Microsoft, is their hq in Redmond. It’s pretty cool.
But Mac is also really cool…Silicon Valley…whoot…ok, i’ll stop now.
