After class today I was outside with my friend Julian. He stopped Mike, one of the coordinators in our school, to inform him that he had an appointment to see him on Wednesday, 10:15am to talk about doing the Biochem Lab Project as a subject next semester. Coincidentally I have an appointment at 10:30am that day for the exact same reason. Mike said that he might not even need to do interviews as long as we have at least a 75 average for 2nd year BABS courses and we need to be doing 5 BABS courses in 3rd year (so essentially only people doing degrees under BABS). I’m doing 7 courses in BABS this year, but I only have a 73.75 average. My best marks have been in random subjects like French (which brought my whole average well above 75), and I have one 69 in Biochemistry that is dragging down my average (possibly because I was sick that semester). Hopefully explaining that I was sick and the facts that I’ve been working in a lab for two years and I already have someone willing to be my supervisor will tip the scales. If I really need to I’ll mention that I wouldn’t need to ask to do the project if they hadn’t cancelled Microbial Physiology because I would have been happy doing that. One person told me that Mike let someone with a 60s credit average do a project, but someone else told me that he’s a stickler for the rules and a pain in the arse. Wish me luck for Wednesday!
