There’s something to be said about a good watch. I don’t know if I’ll say it now but I’ll write a bit anyway.
I think it was about year 9 (6-7 years ago) that I got my first good adult watch. I guess my first “good” watch would have been my Flick Flack one. It didn’t have a metal band or anything but I seem to remember it being fairly nice, but durable enough for a child to wear. It came with a big cardboard clock for parents to help teach you how to read the time. Anyway, my first adult watch was a present, birthday or Christmas I’m sure, it was a Rip Curl surf watch. My mum bought it for me and I remember her saying that I wouldn’t need another watch for at least six years. I remember being surprised (or disappointed) at that because even though I loved my new watch, I knew I could be fickle in my affections and I thought I might get tired of my watch and want a new one. Here I am about six years later with the same watch, going strong. My skin has gotten more sensitive in the last couple of years and sometimes I need to take my rings and watch off, but I’m wearing it today and I’m reminded of how convenient it is to have the time at hand.
I wouldn’t mind a nice watch for special occasions, but for everyday wear I like my watch. Yay for Rip Curl and yay for good watches!
