Thirteen places I’d like to visit.
1. Paris. I learnt French at school and did one uni class on it as well, I’d love to go there and try to speak the language. 2. North and South Carolina. Nicholas Sparks always makes it sound so lovely in his books. 3. Perth. Yep, I live in the country but I haven’t made it to the west coast. I hear it’s a great place to go. Rottnest Island seems to be the main attraction, it costs $50 just to go on the island so it would need to be pretty. I just discovered you can stay on the island, maybe I could do that! 4. New Zealand. I don’t really mind which part I go to, I haven’t seem any of it. It wouldn’t suck to visit those Lord of the Rings mountains though π 5. Maldive Islands. I don’t know if the tourist stuff even exists there anymore, they were damage by a tsunami. I’ve always wanted to go there, pictures look beautiful and I’ve always thought I should visit before global warming causes them to be flooded. When I did a project on them in primary school the highest point was 5 metres (about 10 feet) above sea level. 6. Greek Islands. I read a book based their which was some kind of fantasy fiction but it made the place sound nice, sexy even. 7. England. Not sure where exactly. London could be good to see the sites, Cornwall sounds nice too (again from a book I read when I was a kid). 8. New York. It seems all hustle and bustle but then you see cute movies like You’ve Got Mail (upper west side) and it looks so nice with hot dogs and markets and quaint little shops. 9. Africa! I’d love to take photos of the animals and just see the place. 10. Wales. Again from books, it sounds like lovely country. 11. Canada. From what I’ve heard the people are nice and the skiing is good – I don’t actually ski (or rather I haven’t tried) but I like snow. Some of them speak French too, as well as having signs etc in both languages – way cool! 12. Japan. Not sure why, hubby had a one day stop over there once and he seemed to like it. 13. Thailand. The food! There’s also temples and other stuff to see π I’d love to know where your favourite places are, maybe I’ll get to go there π Put your Thursday Thirteen link here. |

Well, I have lived a few of those places, so here’s my take on them:
North Carolina: The mountains are excellent; beautiful, serene, full of nice people. The rest of the state can go get stuffed, with the exception of the ‘Canes!
South Carolina: Gross. One giant strip-mall from end to end, punctuated by college football stadiums.
Paris: A wonderful city, but unfortunately full of Parisians.
England: London is good, Essex and Kent are not π

Heh, thanks for such a comprehensive comment.
Good to know about South Carolina, I maybe just wanted to go because I couldn’t remember which of the Carolinas was the pretty one, or didn’t know one was pretty and the other wasn’t π

I can only speak to the Carolinas, but they’re both beautiful, especially NC! I’d love to see New Zealand, too — maybe find myself a hobbit. π

Haha, I didn’t say I could go, I may never get to those islands. I might get to go on one moderate sized holiday every two years, if I’m lucky π

Anne Rice novels always made me want to visit New Orleans ~ Probably much like Nicholas Sparks draws you to the Carolinas. π
Great list! Happy Thursday!

I love your list. The woman would like to go to most of those places–can you please tell her she CAN’T? I hate to have my routine interrupted…

My sister lives in N.C. but not in the part from the Nicholas Sparks novels and movies. They live in Redneckville! π
I was born in Thailand, but have never gone there as an adult. I am half Thai, but my mom never made a lot of Thai food for us. We kids were so Americanized. I wish she would have taught us to love all that when we were younger.

Nice List
From experience, SC is better then NC. And NY is a great place to visit, though I wouldnt wanna live there. If you want to practice for NY, visit Philly first, its a smaller version.

Oh, so many places, so little vacation time. I always love Italy–it’s so laid-back and relaxing. Germany’s got all the cool castles. Texas is friendly and has lovely warm weather, and San Antonio’s Riverwalk is wonderful. Michigan’s great for scenery, particularly the Sleeping Bear Dunes and the Mackinac bridge–and Mackinac Island isn’t bad, either. Hmmm. Those are all the ideas I can come up with off the top of my head.
Uisce says
Thai food, yeah! I could be persuaded to visit pretty much any place that has delicious things to eat!
