This afternoon’s shenanigans with this blog have been crazy. Now on a scale of one to ten – things are totally awesome! The Nearly Free Speech main server went down in a big way  but things seem to be nearly all better now. I installed a custom smileys plugin so now I can use the cutesy blobs from Illo Luv  (whose link will go in the sidebar shortly) and as you can see I’m overusing them a bit here. 😛 It’s all for a good cause though, it gives me chance to show them off a bit and to test them, and also I can get used to some of the symbols I’ve given them. Earlier if you werehere you would have noticed that all the links inside my posts weren’t working. That was because I’d assigned :/ to the  icon so it was converting all the http:// into smileys but it wasn’t actually showing the smilies, it was just messing up the links. Thankfully it only took me a couple of minutes of fretting to figure this out and fix it.
It also took me a while to figure out how to get rid of the borders on the smileys because I have borders set for images. Thankfully when looking through the user comments at the site for the plugin I realised there was some CSS in the PHP file and I could just say borders:none; 😀
Next step is to get the Blogopalooza blogroll into a dropdown menu without using java script. I don’t like JS because it forces you to open the link in the same window or a new window but you can’t middle click for a new tab or right click and copy link location (as far as I know). I attempted a CSS one from here but it all went bad. I’ll have to give it more of a go.

Just checking to see that the new anti-spam code works on the comments 🙂
