Yesterday we got back from leading on Sailing camp, officially named Waves and Wind. It pretty much involves looking after ~50 10–12-year-olds; doing activities like sailing, games, putt putt golfing, bible studies and singing.
I am pretty tired. I just slept from about 5pm last night to 7:30am this morning. The last night of camp was very exciting. 20 people came down with some kind of vomit bug! Dead set, there were 20 people vomiting all over the place. Most of the girls were able to make it out of their cabins before throwing up. In fact, none of the girls yacked in their cabins (thank goodness!). Quite a few boys did, all over the floor – sucks for the boy leaders who had to clean that up! Also sucks for the campsite caretakers cos we had to uses buckets and jugs that can no longer be used for food and drink. One of them said they’d have to be thrown away – I say disinfect them and keep them for next time there’s a vomit fest!
On the second last night of camp I got about two hours sleep due to mosquitoes eating me, and the cabin being sooo hot and humid; the windows were open, which meant more mosquitoes came in. I also spent a good amount of time staring down (in the dark) what I thought was a spider. It was big and black (at least in the dark) and at first I thought it was a knot hole in the wood, but then it was moving. In the morning I found it inside my towel – it was a grasshopper!
Some kids decided to entrust their lives to Jesus, so all in all I call it a success.
