rocco topaz, originally uploaded by kristar3lla.
A friend’s kitten, named Rocco. He was pretty skitish, I was lucky to get this one, the rest were a bit of a blur.
Played around with selective colour on this one (obviously!).
I’m testing the Flickr ‘Blog This’ feature. I think it might be a useful way to integrate Flickr and my blog, bypassing the whole photoblog idea. I’d love to be more involved with a photograhic community and photo projects, but I just can’t maintain a photoblog and Flickr account.
If I can get Flickr to post to a certain category, then this might be the answer.

Good luck, I’ve been looking into integrating both Flickr and my site as well. Right now I manually upload the images via FTP and I want an easier way to do it 🙂

Gio… WordPress 2.5 has a built in Gallery feature… and it’s customizable so you can just get access to your photos right from the Write Post screen.
No http://ftp... No Flickr.

I’m playing around with photrade.com as I have a free trail account. If it works out ok and I actually make enough money out of it i may become a paying member

Aww, pretty kitty! Nice shot, Kris. Shows up great, maybe this is the solution for you!
BTW, found a couple of blogs I think you’d be interested in:
this is reverb is written by a 25 YO pastor from Ohio, USA. He blogs about random things, but he seems like a neat guy.
The Pioneer Woman can take some awesome pictures. I’ve not heard of her blog/website (it’s so much more than a blog!) before, but she seems pretty popular! Thought you’d like the photography/Photoshop aspect of it.

Gio, like Jay said, the new image uploads in WordPress are pretty good. Although, mine broke when I upgraded to WP2.6 🙁 I’m hoping it’ll fix when I upgrade to 2.6.1 and it’s obviously not broken for everyone. There’s also a couple of plugins that let you add Flickr photos to posts more easily.
Jay, thanks for the info. Like I said, mine is broken. Have you has any problems?
Sire, I saw that on your site. How’s the community on Photrade? The community is what draws me to Flickr. I really want to improve my photography and it seems that apart from reading and practicing, feedback and discussion might be the best way.
LaurenMarie, thanks! The photo is actually quite old, but I left it on my Flickr when I deleted all the other ones that were duplicated on my photoblog.
Thanks for the links. I will check them out 🙂
I think I’ve decided to keep my photoblog because I like how it looks and works, but I might use Flickr for bigger things like public projects and occasionally post photos to my blog.

Looks like he is about to bolt. Skittish I’d say. But he’s got gorgeous eyes.

I think that picture looks great, really good tone for the eyes. I’ve been considering using Flickr myself for a while, been circling it and I know a lot of people who use it for their sites.
I started using the gallery in WordPress but it doesn’t integrate very well so I’ve got some images in the gallery and others in the normal repository.
It’s a little frustrating.
I need to be convinced though on the virtues of Flickr 🙂

Thanks Roshan!
Lee, I’m no Flickr evangelist, but I do like that heaps of people are on there. You can subscribe to photostream feeds. There are plugins for WP to fetch photos, as well as the Blog This feature from Flickr. I still think for posts with heaps of pics it’s quicker to just upload a folder via FTP and hand code.
There’s a post by Neil Creek, 10 things I love about Flickr (and its users) that might help you… also read its counterpart, linked to in the first paragraph.

Oh cool thanks for that link that’s exactly the thing I was looking for as I already subscribe to so many different social media thingies – I’m wary of taking on more.
