I totally love the Font Game that’s hosted on I Love Typography! It’s written by Kari. I’d love to have an iPhone and play it on there. 😛

If I was doing this again I would use gouache or metallic for the sparks instead of masking them because they are a bit fat, but otherwise fairly happy with this one, where the bright centre is created by an absence of paint (hard to do since you can't really take away the colour once it's down!)
