If you read this post you would know that I went to the Beeston’s for dinner a little while ago. They are Alison and Richard Beeston. They are so lovely! I’m glad they are my friends.
I wasn’t one of the first people to befriend Ali and I remember being a little intimidated by her. One time when we were all away together I asked someone to help me fold my sheets and she helped me but I didn’t really know her. It’s not that anything about that event was intimidating, it was very nice of her to help me. There’s nothing really intimidating about Ali either. I guess I’m just wary of pretending to be friends with someone when we’ve barely even met properly – sort of like in France when you meet someone you should use “vous” instead of “tu”, they both mean “you” but vous is the plural or polite form. I dunno, maybe that makes no sense.
Rich is cool, he likes to talk with hubby about nerd stuff which is cool, because Rich isn’t really a nerd. Although they do share the same type of silly jokes. I like to listen and sometimes input something in those nerd discussions. The Beestons are very easy to talk to and get along with.
Rich is also a musician! It’s really cool. His CD is regularly listened to in our car and it happened to be on last night when we were going to their place for bible study.
I really like his music because he is honest and writes about things that I either haven’t thought about or can totally relate to or both. Not on his current CD (hopefully on the next one), is a song that he sang at church that went something like, “just a little more… a little better… a little sweeter… a little nicer… then I’ll be happy” I’m totally like that, going after things all the time, just another CD, I have my iPod – now I just need a case… and so it always goes on. Need to be content in God and with what he’s given me! I spoke to Rich afterwards and said how I liked that song and he was telling me he liked it too but he also didn’t like it because when he writes and sings a song like that it means he’s accountable to it and has to change in the same way he’s encouraging others to. Not a hypocrite… always a good thing.
So yeah, I hope I’ve sold you on Richard Beeston, you can visit his website here. In the songs section you can download a few songs from his album and he has a new album coming out in March – ooh, that’s this month! Yay! He’s also touring LA and California soon so if you live there you should totally go and see him because he won’t be here and that’s sad for us who wanna hang out with Rich and Ali so make the most of it while you can!1
