Wow! Is this true? It’s an article describing the difference between weblogs and online journals. Pretty much blog looks outwards to others and journal looks inward. That’s all fine, obviously they’ve evolved over time to be a bit of both. The things that he says are specifically characteristic of blogs are things that I actually don’t’ like and skip over when roaming blogs. For example, listing sites you found interesting – I especially don’t like this if you don’t add what your opinion is and don’t want too many sites listed because I came to visit your site not one hundred other sites. Also I don’t like when it’s so outward looking that the sole purpose is to sell things or something like that – I think to myself “Geez, don’t be so cheap – just pay for a website!”. I did at some point think that the distinction between them was dumb because an implicit added condition was that journal was paid for but blogs are free, through blogger, blogcharm etc. Then I remembered that live journal is a free blog hosting thing but it’s called “live journal” so you could argue that they are free online journals.
On a different note – I realise I didn’t post yesterday, I said I would but work was busy and then I was too tired when I came home. I didn’t even turn on my computer!
Don’t forget to visit my renter! She is cool! Go on… clicky clicky on the spare roomy =)
