This week I’m listening to Beth Orton’s 1996 album Trailer Park. I’ve heard of Beth around the place but never made the effort to listen to her music. Friday, after getting my hair cut, I had a hankering for some new music. A guy in Angel let me listen to Natalie Merchant – who is totally cool and I hope to buy a cd of hers soon. After that I went into JB Hifi and there were Beth Orton CDs for only $10 so I bought Trailer Park. I like it alot. It’s quite “airy”, there are alot of layer to the music with lots of effects and mysterious sounds, possibly made by string instruments. On top of it all is an excellent voice and guitar. Similar to Sarah McLachlan. Listen to the first song on the album She Cries Your Name.
