Heh, at morning tea time I was looking in cupboards for our cookies that were left over from afternoon tea yesterday. Upon finding them I swung the cupboard door shut and heard some clanging and falling noises. I chose to back away slowly and drink my tea. At lunch time someone opened that same cupboard and a bunch of things including a can of tuna fell out. Woops! 😀

I’ve always known that the computer I use at work is appalling but it seems like all my other technology is packing up and flying north for the winter. I previously spoke of my “bookmark this tab” menu option disappearing from Firefox. It just as mysteriously reappeared not too long afterwards. I picked up my old camera to take a couple of shots and the auto-focus no longer worked. Last night I took the lens off, gave it a bit of an ogle and put it back on. It works now! My desktop computer no longer wakes up from hibernation. I don’t know what it is but that last four or five times I’ve started it some sort of freezing, hard drive whizzing but no info getting to the monitor, thing happens and I have to restart, at which point I get asked whether to delete restoration data or continue. I have to delete it, continuing causes the PC to enter into the same catatonic state. Then, this morning on my way to work I tried to turn on my iPod and it just didn’t respond at all. I was quite concerned so I borrowed Yvonne’s usb cable and plugged it in. I got some kind of battery symbol that I’d never seen before. I was going to look it up but the network died; while I waited for its resurrection the iPod went into its normal battery charging state. I can only assume that it was completely uncharged, despite having been plugged in all weekend.
So presently my main problem is my PC that can’t hibernate. I use hibernation a lot, it can’t be broken!

Our social calendar is murder at the moment. I nearly burst into tears just thinking about it. I’m also a bit sad now because hubby and I have decided not to go on Sailing Camp. I’d so love to go but with hubby trying to finish up his PhD, and the church and family hoohah leading up to Christmas it just doesn’t seem possible to go. 😥
2 nights ago, I was looking for something in the kitchen and opened the cupboard, only to have glass mugs and many other things fall/ shatter on the floor and kitchen counter – hmmm, you weren’t at my house snopping in my cupboards by any chance were you?
Sorry about the problems with your gadgets/ computers! I have been having a little of that lately too with my wife’s digintal camera lense not working and my new computer motherboard dying. It seems like all electronic equipment nowadays are fitted with a “timer” bug that will “self-destruct” and corrupt the rest of the workable components after a certain while. that way, the company can introduce new “upgrades”, “force” people to buy support and new products – a marketing and smart business ploy.
I don’t use hibernate but have used the power settings. I don’t know if maybe that is similar. I’m not that computer savvy. I’d just wiggle the mouse and the monitor would come back on. A couple years back, it stopped doing that and after fighting with it for about a month, discovered that the monitor had gone tits up. If it sounds like that might be a possibility it would be better to try that than losing all your data.
