Fervr Launch

7 June 2009 by kristarella

The Website Last Saturday I attended the launch of Fervr: a website to encourage young Christians to live Christ-centred lives, encourage non-Christians to think about the values of our society, a resource for Christian leaders who are teaching young people, and also a place to connect people with Christian groups in their area.

Dress-up ideas

16 May 2009 by kristarella

One of our friends had his 21st recently. Since he is an enormous movie buff it was a dress-up party: “retro TV/movie characters or actors”. I was so plagued by indecision that I almost didn’t want to go, and having left it until that day to finalise a costume, the options were not too grand. […]

The Christ Files

22 March 2008 by kristarella

Good Friday, 12noon, Channel 7 was a documentary by John Dickson, The Christ Files. It’s supposed to be a historical exploration of the facts behind the stories about Jesus. I didn’t get home in time to watch it so I searched for a review of it. I’d hoped to find something thought out, critical (positive […]

Sorry to see you go…

24 January 2008 by kristarella

Dang. I’ve been on holidays for a couple of months so any exposure to the news that I got through other people has essentially gone. It was pure chance that I turned the TV on today and it was on the aerial channel rather than the DVD channel. I saw a tiny snippet of news […]

Death Proof: a movie by Quentin Tarantino

4 November 2007 by kristarella

We saw Death Proof tonight. It was a choice between that and Death at a Funeral. Gee, did it feel like the wrong choice. Glenj summed it up nicely when he said “The best part of that movie was the Beowulf trailer at the start.” An IMDB reviewer was right on when they said, Tarantino […]

The Kingdom

12 October 2007 by kristarella

We saw The Kingdom last night. Having read the one sentence synopsis on IMDB it wasn’t what I was expecting. If I had seen the trailer or looked at the official website I might have been expecting something closer to what I saw. Even then, it was quite “sobering” (was the word my husband used) […]

130 today, combination of pushups and squats. I tr 130 today, combination of pushups and squats. I tried to do some pushups that targeted chest muscles rather than shoulders... I think I succeeded.Relationships are hard. We are all flawed beings who often struggle to understand ourselves, let alone others. Relationship breakdowns are really hard, I definitely see how mental health can plummet in times like that. Reach out for help if you need it!

Not gonna lie, I don't really understand today's s Not gonna lie, I don't really understand today's stat... It's to do with sustainability and how more people are getting eco anxiety, but I really don't know what it means that we're using 1.6 earths every year. I guess it's some combination of overusing resources and over-producing waste, but under that multiplier I'm not sure how we're not living like WALL-E already 🤔
I did 120 pushups and 40 squats today.

Silver medal 🥈 in the kumite tournament today! Silver medal 🥈 in the kumite tournament today! I entered with very little expectations on myself other than to meet the challenge, and not only did I do that, but I scored an ippon (full point rather than half point – only a few techniques qualify)!Watching the video, I find the way my legs and feet move quite bizarre 😆 something to work on another day. Thanks everyone for making it a great day!#gkrkarate #karate #kumite

175 push-ups for the 17.5% of Aussies who saw a mental health professional last year.
While 175 was quite enough for me today, 17.5% is pretty low given the number of people with mental illness, and the fact that these professionals can also help you through grief, hardship, relationship issues... Things other than mental illness that everyone will probably face at some point. It's okay to ask for help!
