During one of several trips to the Art Gallery of New South Wales in my final years of High School I saw a very clever artwork. It comprised of two pieces, one was an image of Jesus made up of tiny pictures of Buddha in different colours and tones. The other piece was an image of Buddha made up of tiny images of Jesus. They weren’t just any images of Jesus and Buddha, they were exactly the same, the small ones repeated on one piece made up the other and vice versa. I can’t seem to find any reference to them on Google or the art gallery website. Although I possibly don’t agree with the meaning or concept behind their creation I loved the end visual result. Since seeing that artwork I have had a greater respect for the kind of image mosaics that make a larger picture using smaller images.
Thanks to The Foo for bringing this to my attention!
Update: Heard from the creator, the images are pulled from Flickr and they’re not changed, it chooses the best coloured ones.
